Scuderia Toro Rosso may have to give up it’s partnership with highly-regarded technical director Giorgio Ascanelli. Rumors are abound, that Ferrari are at the head of the line of teams chasing the Italian’s services starting from next year onwards.
There has been no official word from Ferrari on Ascanelli or any suggestions on the role that the current STR technical director might fill at Ferrari, but Ascanelli’s is being linked to talks with the team. Ascanelli already had a stint with Ferrari among other leading teams like Benetton, he is given credit for helping engineer some of Ayrton Senna’s most memorable victories during his time spent at the Woking-based McLaren outfit in 1992 and 1993, and for just reticently having helped mastermind Sebastian Vettel’s extraordinary Italian Grand Prix win at Monza in 2008.
