Who is the fastest? The quickest times on day 4 of the Barcelona test were all within a tiny margin of each other. We’re talking 0.195 of a second separating the top 3.

Ferrari started the day off, ‘looking for performance’ as Alonso banged out numerous laps in the 1:20s range.

Ferrari introduced a new front and rear wheel design to circumvent the rule banning wheel fairings. The team also tried out the long anticipated anvil (shark fin) engine cover.

Ferrari has again made it clear that it is not a fan of the FIA’s recent policy which has allowed smaller and underfunded teams into Formula 1.

On the final day of this test session at Jerez, on Feb 13 Ferrari had racked up over 700km in testing, and overall had put the car through a rigorous program which the car has thus far done flawlessly and without any reliability problems. However, the same question still remains. Is the new Ferrari F10 single-seater faster than the rest?

After yet another wet start of a testing session, Ferrari focused on understanding how the car behaves under changing conditions as the track dried. With the no refueling rule in place, the weight of the car will change significantly as the race goes on, with the cars finishing the grand prix on fumes.

Fernando Alonso will drive the Ferrari F10 on the first two days of the four day session, before handing over the reins to Felipe Massa. Weather however may not be favorable.

After a lackluster 2009 season, it’s easy to get carried away in thinking that Ferrari are back on top. Ferrari drivers Felipe Massa and Fernando Alonso occupied the top of the time sheets at the first pre-season testing event in Valencia, Spain. The scuderia’s cars were the only single seater’s lapping in the 1 minute 11 second range with the rest of the drivers failing to break the 1 minute 12 second barrier. A great start to the F1 pre-season, but team principal Stefano Domenicali may now face the toughest job in preparing the team for the 2010 championship, and that is keeping the prancing horse’s feet firmly on the ground.

In December of 2009, (though talks must have started earlier) Ferrari hired Giuseppe Azzollini who previously worked for Totyota F1 as senior CFD engineer. With Toyota departing from F1, Ferrari acquired the services of Giuseppe.

Ferrari’s confidence in the F10 grows after Felipe Massa ends day 1 of pre-season testing in P1 Valencia topping the time sheets. After the morning session, Felipe Massa set the benchmark time to beat with a time of 1:13.088s just before lunch completing a total of 32 laps. As the test went on into the afternoon, times subsequently began to drop.

Ferrari released their 2010 Formula 1 contender last Thursday the 28th of January, but rumors circulating in German and Italian media even prior to it’s release have suggested that Ferrari’s new car, the F10 may not be all the team was hoping. Rumors be rumors, but this time Ferrari have expressed genuine concern with setup that their 2010 challenger may face in the upcoming season.
