Fernando Alonso will drive the Ferrari F10 on the first two days of the four day session, before handing over the reins to Felipe Massa.
Ferrari set the fastest time in last week’s test in Valencia, Spain but remain cautious about the speed of their car which has thus far been the only one at the top of the time sheets this pre-season.
According to Ferrari, the F10 will be fitted with some minor mechanical updates for this week’s run, while Ferrari expect more significant and aerodynamic updates to appear on the car only for the 3rd and 4th tests.
Coincidentally, the test immediately following this weeks event will also be held in Jerez where Ferrari are expected to field their 2nd F10 chassis being currently worked on in Maranello.
With suggestions of a more advanced diffuser solution being worked on by Ferrari, it’s possible that if finished and fitted in time (whatever the changes) back to back Jerez tests would provide a great comparison venue for the new aero pieces.
Things many not be so easy however, as unfavorable weather is predicted and threatens to ruin any plans for dry running.
