Stefano Domenicali
Stefano Domenicali has indicated that he believes this past season’s top performers will be next year’s top rivals. Both Brawn GP and Red Bull will likely be in the championship chase next season with McLaren and hopefully Ferrari.
As we’ve reported several times this year, many teams were caught off guard by several rule and regulation changes that confused 70% of the F1 grid. Couple that with hesitation of most teams to embrace KERS and really develop it leaving essentially multiple car configurations on track this season.
The Ferrari chief also believes that Ross Brawn has already been working on his team’s 2010 challenger for some time and is already ahead of many teams in terms of development for next season, with RedBull not far behind given how strongly they’ve ended the season.
Below are some quotes for Stefano:
“Brawn had such a huge advantage at the beginning that for sure – without saying – they will have swapped development to their new car a long time ago.”
“I know Ross very well and for sure he is doing that.”
“With regard to Red Bull, I think they did a great package – a really great package – for sure they will be there next year too.”
When speaking of Scuderia Ferrari’s chances of recovering from a harsh and difficult 2009, Domenicali says:
“In 2005 we suffered like hell like this year, we had the lone win at Indianapolis and that season was very difficult,”
“The memory is very short, but we have these periods and we are used to getting out of them with the Ferrari spirit and the Ferrari resources.”
